STIFF is an international film festival happening in Rijeka, Croatia from 28th till 30th of May 2014. and it is dedicated entirely to student films.. STIFF’s main goal is presenting the best of student film production to Rijeka’s audience, especially to students. The purpose of the festival is strengthening the local film and video industry by allowing an insight into the work of other filmmakers, encouraging the development of new ideas and establishing an international collaboration in the field of media production.
From over 600 submissions from all over the world, selectors, croatian directors Maša Drndić and Sanja Marjanović chose 44 student works for the main competition program that will be shown in Art-Cinema Croatia. Paralel program dedicated to experimental film and video art will be held in the space of SKC Gallery , Palach Cultural Center.
The panel is comprised of three judges: Dragan Rubeša – film critic; Boris Ružić – film theoretician and professor at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka and Dejan Durić – film critic and professor at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka. The judges will pick the best film, best director, best editor, and best cinematographer. The audience will also have a chance to vote for the best film award.
As a part of the STIFF’s educational program Dean Durić will mentor 5 day workshop on film review & criticism for 10 selected students. Best film reviews will be published on our website.
