The panel is comprised of three judges: Dragan Rubeša – film critic; Boris Ružić – film theoretician and professor at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka and Dejan Durić – film critic and professor at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka. The judges will pick the best film, best director, best editor, and best cinematographer. The audience will also have a chance to vote for The Best Film Award.
Dragan Rubeša (1956), is a film critic. He graduated English and German languages. He is a long-time critic of Novi list, also publishing his texts in „La voce del popolo“, portal of Rijeka’s Art-cinema, Vijenac, „Croatian movie yearbook“ as well as in The Movie Broadcast of Croatian Radio Third Channel.
Rubeša is a member of Croatian Society of Film Critics which awarded him a prize „Vladimir Vuković“ for the film critic in 2003. He is the author of the book „Body Language: Notes on the Non-Hollywood Film“ which represents his yearlong reviewer’s work. He is especially interested in eastern Asian movie, hence he often writes about Japanese, Taiwan and South Korean cinematography. He is mostly intrigued by silence, body language, minimalism of space and other images of contemplation.
Boris Ružić (1985), graduated at the Department of Cultural Studies of the University of Rijeka Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Since 2010 enrolled at the postgraduate doctoral study „Humanistic Sciences“(interdisciplinary sciences) at the University of Zadar. Since October 2008 until today has been working at Croatian Radio Third Channel, on cultural-scientific program, editing and publishing texts in various transmissions of cultural-media and film orientation. From March 2010 until June 2012 he was an external associate at the Department of Cultural Studies (University of Rijeka) and since October 2012 permanently employed as an assistant on film and media courses. Since October 2011 has been employed as the author/columnist at the Internet portal „Tportal“. Participates in international and domestic conferences and publishes scientific and professional papers in the Croatian and English languages. In 2012, in cooperation with Saša Stanić, his book “Fragments of the world’s picture: critical analysis of the contemporary film and media production” was published.
Dejan Durić (1981), employed as an assistant professor at the Department of Croatian Language and Literature of the University of Rijeka Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Publishes the film reviews at the portal filmovi.hr, equally engaged with American commercial and independent movie and worldwide artistic movie (European, Asian, Latin American). His fields of interest are psychoanalytical critic, comparative literature, literature and memory as well as film critic. In his reviews he often deals with different culturological theories, from psychoanalysis to narrative, genre, feminist, generic and numerous other methods of the film interpretation. He published the collection of movie essays „The Movie Jigsaw Puzzle “ (2008), the collection of movie critics „Short Cuts“ (2013) and „Introduction to Psychoanalysis – from Oedipal to Narcissistic Culture “ (2013). He is a winner of the „Vladimir Vuković“ prize of Croatian Society of Film Critics for the film critic in 2011.
